The second installation of The Oil Big Five hit a snag when we realized that comments weren’t coming through on our blog platform, so this follow-up is a week later than we wanted.
But regardless of timing, we wanted to feature the comments from our readers, both here on the blog as well as on social media. We know what our oil experts and editors think are the most important trends worldwide, but what about you? Do you agree with what others have said?
In no particular order, here are some comments from our readers about big oil industry trends or topics that have caught your attention.
- Andrew Bradshaw on the blog agreed with our Platts picks, but also raised some other important issues: “I think the Iraq issue is going to run and run. Other points for me include: what’s happening to Libya’s oil industry? What’s the next step following the Chinese rig in Vietnamese waters? Is shale really going to be a game changer for the UK? Which way will the North Sea contract’s squeeze go? What impact will the Russo-Chinese gas deal have on Australia’s gas industry?” Andrew’s points highlight how interconnected countries and regions are in the oil world—IOCs and politics mean that what happens in one part of the world rarely just stays there.
